En el mundo de ‘Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters’ todo el mundo utiliza las aplicaciones de los smartphone. En su interior se encuentran desconocidas criaturas llamadas “Appli Monsters” o “Appmon“. Las Appmon son inteligencias artificiales con la capacidad de pensar y actuar, y existen en el límite entre el mundo real y el espacio digital. Sin embargo, en el gran mundo de Internet, el Leviathan (una IA jefe) toma el control de los Appmon por medio de un virus, pirateando cada sistema, comenzando a controlar de esta forma el mundo humano por medio del mundo virtual. El protagonista de la historia es Haru Shinkai, quien adquirió el Appli Drive y lo utiliza para materializar a Gacchimon, un Appmon de un buscador. ¿Cuál es el secreto que se esconde tras el Appli Drive? ¿Cuál es la conexión existente entre el mundo de Internet, en donde viven los Appmon, y el mundo real? ¿Qués es el “App Combine”, que puede combinar dos Appmons? ¿Cuál es la verdadera meta del Leviathan?
