Privacy policy

What data ZENKAI keeps, what for and who it is shared with. We keep what the site needs to work and to get better, and we do not sell your data.
If you create an account
- Email, username and display name.
- Your password, stored as a hash (never as plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google name, email and profile picture, and we have no password.
- What you upload or set on your profile: avatar, banner, customization and featured achievements.
Your activity
Anyone can see your profile, your comments and your public playlists. Watch together room chat is not stored: it lives in memory while the room is open.
- Episode progress and history, so you can pick up where you left off.
- Your list, statuses, playlists, comments, reactions, who you follow and your level and XP.
- The notifications you receive.
- Preferences such as language, audio and subtitles.
AniList and MyAnimeList
If you connect these accounts, we store the access they give us, encrypted, and use it only for what you turn on in settings, such as syncing your list. You can disconnect them at any time in settings, and we delete that access.
Measurement and errors
- We record usage events (which page or episode was opened, language, approximate country, device type and the site you came from) to learn what works. They are deleted after 180 days.
- We use Google Analytics with anonymized IPs.
- If the site breaks in your browser, a technical error report is stored so we can fix it.
Contact messages
If you write to us, we keep your email, the kind of request and the message so we can reply. To stop spam we keep a code derived from your IP, not the IP itself.
Who it is shared with
Only with the services that make the site work, and only what each one needs:
- OVH: the server that runs the site and the database.
- Cloudflare: stores the images you upload and runs the bot check (Turnstile).
- OpenAI: checks images and some public texts before they are published, to filter forbidden content.
- Google: Google sign-in and Google Analytics.
- AniList and MyAnimeList: only if you connect your account.
- The services that provide videos and subtitles receive your browser's requests when you play something, like any site you visit.
Your rights
You can see and edit your profile data in settings. If you want a copy of your data, or want us to delete your account and everything tied to it, write to us through from the account's email.
Children
ZENKAI is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top, and if the change is important we announce it on the site.
